Wrapelicious!
I sometimes spend more time wrapping a gift than I do MAKING it! I consider the exterior appearance of a gift to be of the utmost importance. It really says how much you care when you put some time and love into the wrapping job. But with that aside, the main reason that I could wrap wrap wrap for hours, is that I just LOVE IT! For me, it's another dimension of my collage work... a four-sided base on which to toss paper, fabric, ribbon, chunks of lace, small objects such as old keys, strands of beads, pom poms, handmade flowers (using ANYTHING you like!), punched tags, sprigs and sprays, brooches, etc... I once read, "Gifts have one big moment in life - Dress them for it" and that has become my moto. Around here it must be contagious, for, when my Birthday rolled around this year, there on the table sat THE loveliest package of brown paper (my favorite) collaged all over with images of roses and antlers! Who could this be from!?!? It took just one look at my Bryn to know! He had sat down for a long while to wrap my gift, and to be honest, that was right up there with the MacBook that was inside that beautiful exterior!! THAT'S how meaningful wrapping can be! But even after all of this, I have learned that there is one good place for the ol' sturdy gift bag... and that is, at a baby shower!! How else is Momma gonna lug all that loot home?!?!
